Like delivering a sublime note from a Strad. In this case, casting light on a subject …
For anyone who has played with gyroscopes and counter-balances … elegant positioning in time and space … well articulated, to say the least. Sapper’s 1971 masterpiece for Artemide commands respect from minimalists, modernists, post-modernists, and deconstructivists alike.
Richard Sapper gave me one of the original lamps and it is still giving great pleasure after all these years. I think it is the “Grandaddy” of much Halogen lighting.
