The side handle is nice because now your 180 degrees away from the pouring spout, preventing getting hit by splashing hot water or likewise. This may be a stupid point but still should be taken into consideration.
I must also point out that the handle itself isn’t very ergonomic. Must one bent his wrist to extreme degrees to get a proper hold on it?
